Learning Pays

The Girl Who Didn't Want to Learn

Once upon a time, there was a girl named Nicoll, that lived in a small city in Colombia called Cali. She was a very intelligent and talented girl because she was good at singing, dancing, coloring and many other things, except for schooling.

She didn't know how to write well, her pronunciation was horrible, and when the teacher was speaking she couldn't understand anything, so many people thought that she had a disability, but when her mom asked the doctor, he said: " Your little girl just doesn't want to learn". Nicoll`s mom was very angry and scolded her and said: " If you don't want to learn anything then you will stay home and clean the house and do all the domestic chores". Nicoll's answer was " No, please, I will learn how to write, speak and understand".

That night she prayed for help and hours later a Magic Fairy
appeared and said: " I will help you, but you have to understand some things before, okay?" And Nicoll, with her eyes as bright as the stars, said  "Yes!" "Okay, when learning your senses are very important, and making use of them will help you a lot, for example, you use your ears to hear, and to understand what the teacher is telling you, and with your eyes you can see images that are related to the topic you are trying to learn. I will help you for three nights, and if you pay attention you will become responsible, self-regulated, and even a more intelligent person!"

Nicoll, with her eyes as bright as the sun said: " Thank you a lot, from now on I will pay attention and wake up all nights at 11 o `clock to learn from you, but what is your name?" Asked Nicoll, "Learning, but you can call me teacher," said the fairy Learning and flew away.

The next three nights learning, she taught her to speak well and correctly, read and learn more vocabulary and the last night to write and improve her creativity. In the end, Nicoll became a better person.
